Reviving a traditional stone house through a sensitive approach to its original character.
This project focuses on the restoration and transformation of a traditional rural dwelling, preserving its architectural identity while adapting it to contemporary needs. The existing stone masonry, timber elements and tiled roof were carefully recovered, bringing back the building’s original character and connection to its surroundings.
The intervention enhances the relationship between the house and the landscape, introducing new elements such as the external staircase while maintaining a restrained material palette that respects the existing architecture. The result is a renewed home that balances heritage, functionality and contemporary living, while remaining deeply rooted in the landscape of Cantabria.
